Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimum health and peak performance. The key focus is to support homeostasis, a position of wellbeing we all seek, and many fail to achieve. We recognize that diet and lifestyle are among the factors that most profoundly influence homeostasis.
As each person has individual requirements, strengths and weaknesses, there is no diet or programme which is perfect for everyone, although there are general guidelines that apply to all. This approach allows the practitioner to work with people on many levels, tackling problems by supporting the body towards normal function.
In a typical Nutritional Therapy consultation, the therapist will assess the individual’s general health, family history, dietary habits, digestive function and lifestyle. The therapist will then devise a dietary and lifestyle plan suitable for the individual’s circumstances. This may include dietary adjustments, suggestions for dietary support, lifestyle changes and food supplement recommendations.
